Do you find that you put all this effort into picking up the house and every time you turn around it's a mess again? Often the issue can be that things are not being stored in a way that makes it easy and quick to put items away. We don't usually have the same enthusiasm to put thing away when we are done with a project, as we had to start the project. So, lets discuses some ways that will make it easier to put things in their proper storage.

Storage Location
When we are finished with a project for the day, there are usually one of two situations going on. We are pressed for time and need to get started on something else or it is the end of the day, and we are tired and just want to go to bed. Thus, having to run all over the house to put things away can be time consuming and we and our family members just don't have the energy to do it. Here are a few tips to try making the prosses easier for everyone.
Designate certain areas for certain types of projects to be done. Like having all craft projects done at the kitchen table. Or in the kitchen do all the mixing of food in one area and all the chopping of ingrediencies in another part of the kitchen. Then you want to figure out how to store the tools you use for those projects, in close proximity to those areas. The rule of thumb to keep in mind is they should be stored within one to two steps of where you use them.
Keep projects that take more than one day to do, in a container. If you tend to do projects such as craft projects or your taxes, on a surface that you have to use for something else like the dining table, it is helpful to have a container you can easily set the project in when it is time to do something else. This can save time and help with keeping things looking neat.
Have more than one of certain tools. Tools like scissors and screwdrivers often are used to fix things all over the house. So having a set in meltable areas around the house saves time when you don't have to walk downstairs just to get a pair of scissors to cut that string hanging off the bedspread. This can also help motivate you more to get the project done when, what you need to do it, is right there.
So, the key to keep in mind is you want to store the tools to do something as close as possible to where they will be used.
Containers
What kind of containers should you use?
Make sure you can easily put things in and take things out. The containers you pick to put your belongings in need to be easy to take items in and out of. You also want to be able to stack things in there in a way that you can easily see what you want next time. So, using dividers and our next tip, can help make it easier to see and retrieve what you have in the container.
Smaller containers for smaller items inside larger containers. When you have a few smaller items that you store with larger ones, putting them in a smaller container that you can store in the larger one will make it easier to find them and take them out.
Clear containers when you need to keep an eye on how much you have left of that product. You may not want to keep all your belongings in clear containers, so focus on stuff like food products in the kitchen that you need to see with a quick glance, how much product you have left.
Caddies around the house for items that belong elsewhere. Having caddies located in certain parts of the house makes for a convenient container to set items in when someone does not have the time or energy to run around the house to put things away. This will keep the items all together, keeping the space looking neat and will also make it quicker to put them away when the time comes.
